SAT & ACT
What is the difference betweent the SAT & ACT? The ACT measures what you currently know. It is an achievement test. The SAT measures your potential (critical thinking ability). It is an aptitude test. Sudents must take either the SAT or ACT for admittance into all four-year colleges and some two-year colleges. Students should begin taking the SAT or ACT in the spring of their junior year and they can take the tests multiple times. Colleges will accept the highest score. For example, a student takes the SAT in May of his junior year and scores a 550 Critical Reading and 400 Math. He then takes the test again in October and scores a 510 Critical Reading and 490 Math. The college will accept the 550 Critical Reading and 490 Math score. Students shoul prepare for the SAT or ACT before taking the tests. For more information about the tests, click on the link below:

Monetti's Messages
- On Tuesday, January 24 we had Jonathon Stroble from GA Student Finance Commission talk to our seniors about financial aid. Students who want to receive any type of scholarship or federal aid including Pell Grant and HOPE Scholarship/Grant must fill out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA must be filled out online. Students may get a worksheet from the guidance office to help them with the online process. Feel free to call me or stop by if you have questions.
- Seniors should be checking with me about local scholarship opportunities. I will update them by making announcements, but students are encouraged to stop by my office to check. Local scholarships are awarded at Honors Night in May,
- Next month I will be having senior interviews. Seniors have the opportunity to meet with me and go over their transcript and discuss future plans. Parents are welcome to attend. I will notify the students of their date and time of their meeting.
- There are still some students who need to pass the EOCT or GHSGT to graduate. Saturday school is available to help students prepare for these tests.
