Guidance

The Tassel is Worth the Hassle!

The high school guidance and counseling services are designed to help students make wholesome and realistic personal, social, career, and education plans and adjustements.

The Advisement Program at Brooks County High School is designed to give students a certficated teacher and counselor to mentor them throughout their high school experience.  Students are assigned to an advisement group in the 9th grade year.  Students remain with the same advisement group for four years, unless he/she does not meet the promotion requirements for entereing the next grade.  Advisement groups meet with their advisor to discuss individual needs, progress, development issues, strengths and weaknesses.

Counselors welcome the interest of staff and parents in helping students make sound choices and decision relating to current and continuing problems.

SAT/ACT Fee Waivers

The SAT & ACT Fee-Waiver Service assists students who can’t afford the registration for the SAT or ACT. Fee waivers may be awarded to those students that receive Free/Reduced lunch. Students receive fee waivers through their school counselors. They may use up to two fee waivers for the SAT and up to two for the ACT.

If you are eligible, you may use a maximum of two fee waivers total. The waiver is used once you register, even if you do not test on the requested test date.

Fee waivers cover only the basic registration fee for your test option, including up to four college choices (if you provide valid codes when you register). Waivers do not cover the late registration fee, test date or test center changes, standby fee, or any other services. (Click on Standby fee to access more information.)
