The Sounds of Straight Superiors

Members of the Brooks County Middle School Band and the Brooks County High School Band traveled to Cairo, Georgia on Thursday, March 10th to participate in the BCMS BandDistrict 2 Large Group Performance Evaluations also known as Band Festival.  At this event, the students performed three concert pieces from a selected list for a panel of judges.  These judges evaluated the performance and assigned a rating based on the performance.  Brooks County Middle School/High School Festival Band received Superior Ratings for their stage performance which is the highest score that they could receive.  The band is under the direction of Christina Huss and Alan Carter.

 

Jump Rope and Hoops for Heart at BCMSBCMS Hoops for Heart

Students at BCMS raised $3,256 for the American Heart Association’s Jump Rope for Heart and Hoops for Heart.  Grades sixth and seventh participate in Jump Rope for Heart and eighth grade has Hoops for Heart.

BCMS Students Place at Science Fair

BCMS Science Fair Region winnerstudents from BCMS recently competed at the regional Science Fair competition in Tifton. Even though the students did not qualify for state, ALL of the students placed in Region!  Those who went and placed were Case Cain (7th) 2nd place in Chemistry, Alesa Bennett (7th) 2nd place in Chemistry, Carli Wheeler (7th) 2nd place in Plant Science, Cody Peeples (6th ) 3rd place in Chemistry, Daisy Gordon (6th) 3rd place in Chemistry, Grace Mills (7th) 3rd place in Behavior and Social Science, Gavin Hiers (6th) 3rd place in Animal Science, Olin Blair (6th) 2nd place Chemistry, Madeline Blair (6th) 3rd place Chemistry, Emileigh Ratcliffe (7th) 3rd Medicine and Health, and Aaron Sapp (8th) 3rd place in Chemistry.

 

 

Students Perform at History Program

The theme for this year's Black History Program was "My History + Your History = Our History …American History."  Two special student groups, "Men of Purpose" BCMS Black history Programperformed a step dance and "Leading Ladies" performed a dance for the students and staff.  Students were inspired by the reading of poems, music, dance and by the special inspirational guest speaker, Chaplain J. Patrick Miller.

Ryan Barber District Middle School Honor BandRyan Barber Selected for Middle School Honor Band

In February, Ryan Barber represented Brooks County Middle School in the District 2 Middle School Honor Band.  Ryan was selected for the honor band after participating in an audition back in December. The Honor Band was held in Norman Park, Georgia at the Norman Park Baptist Assembly.  He plays trombone.
