School Councils were begun in Georgia public schools to promote better communication and foster school improvement. Each Council is composed of seven members. Council members serve two year terms. Parent representatives are elected by parents. Two of these parents must be business persons. Teacher representatives are elected by teachers. Business representatives are elected according to the School Council By Laws. The parent representatives must remain in majority.
