Welcome to Quitman Elementary- "Building a Better Future"- Work Zone!
Quitman Elementary students participate in 135 minutes of daily Reading Instruction with small group individualized attention. Additional small group Intervention classes are offered for struggling students to boost their reading achievement. Each classroom library has an average of 10 books per child. Our school media center has over 35,000 books and a computer work station. The curriculum at Quitman Elementary is aligned to the Georgia Performance Standards (GPS) to ensure that students are well prepared for national and state assessments. With common planning, teachers are able to collaborate and plan with each other to ensure continuity throughout the grade level. Teachers are provided ongoing staff development in current reading and math strategiees. Students participate daily in enriching block activities such as music, art, physical education, technology, character education, and media skills. A full time nurse and counselor are on staff at Quitman Elementary.
