Principal, Dr. Elena Taveras
Dr. Taveras began her educational career in the Brooks County school system 20 years ago as a science teacher at Brooks County High School. Six year later she transitioned from the classroom and has served in several administrative positions within the system, which includes building and system level positions. Dr. Taveras received her Bachelor of Science in Biology and Pre-Med from Adelphi University. She received her Master’s in Educational Leadership, Masters in Secondary Education Science, and Educational Specialist degree from Valdosta State University. She earned her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Argosy University. She has one daughter, Tiffany, a senior at Valdosta State University.
Dr. Taveras believes that a child’s success is a collaborative effort between the community, parents, and the school system. The community must actively support the school system; parents must continually reinforce the value of education, and, the school system must provide a structured curriculum and a caring and supportive faculty.
